The first three miniatures are doctors with patients who have cautery points marked on their bodies; the fourth is a doctors treating gout: one holds the patient's tongue, the other catches the blood that pours from his ankle-joints, with the instructions, 'burn in this manner (incenditur sic) or 'thus' (sic, ita). At the top left, the cautery points for a toothache are identified as between the ears and the temples; next to points for a tertian fever (one recurring every forty-eight hours), and for dropsy.
